The christ who dodget a cannonball\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The 7nth of October 1571 had place in Naupactos (Greece) the battle of Lepanto. The combat, between the fleets of the Sacred Ligue and the Othoman Empire, was one of the biggest naval battles in history and also one of the bloodyest, in a few hours died about 50.000 fighters. The Almirall of the christian fleet was the bastard son of Carlos V, and his comander ship, \u201cLa Real\u201d, the biggest galley in that time, was built in Barcelona.<\/span><\/p>\n

This galley was presided by an image of a black christ crucified and the legend tells that in the hardest moment of the battle a Cannonball was going to impact the image but the the Christ, with a fantastic dribbling, dodged the bullet staying in that strange position till today.<\/span><\/p>\n

This image is now at the Cathedral of Barcelona and is processioned through the streets on selected days. Maybe could be a good idea to proclame him Patron of the Dribblers and take him out before every match of the Barcelona football team to inspire Messi and Neynar.<\/span><\/p>\n

El 7 de octubre de 1571 se desarrolla en Naupactos (Grecia) la batalla de Lepanto. El combate, entre las flotas de la Santa Liga y el Imperio Otomano, es una de las mayores batallas navales de la historia y tambi\u00e9n una de las mas sangrientas, en pocas horas murieron unos 50.000 combatientes, lleg\u00e1ndose a derramar en las aguas del golfo de Patras unos 200.000 litros de sangre . El almirante de la flota cristiana es el hijo bastardo de Carlos I, el infante Don Juan de Austria y su nave capitana \u201cLa Real\u201d se construye en las atarazanas de Barcelona, siendo la galera mas grande de su tiempo.<\/p>\n

Esta galera estaba presidida por la imagen de un cristo crucificado y ya ennegrecido por dos incendios anteriores sufridos durante su azarosa peripecia.<\/p>\n

Cuenta la leyenda que en medio de la batalla, en la cruenta lucha que se libraba entre La Real y la Sultana (naves capitanas de ambas flotas), una bala de ca\u00f1\u00f3n disparada desde esta \u00faltima iba a impactar contra la talla cuando el Cristo, con un h\u00e1bil regate de cintura, esquiv\u00f3 la bala quedando en esta forzada posici\u00f3n desde entonces. Parece que el Cristo, salvado de dos incendios, decidi\u00f3 salvarse esta vez por si mismo.<\/p>\n

<\/a> Desde entonces esta imagen se conserva en la Catedral de Barcelona y es sacada en procesi\u00f3n en las festividades del Corpus Cristi y de Viernes Santo aunque bien podr\u00eda sac\u00e1rsele tambi\u00e9n antes de cada partido del Bar\u00e7a como Santo Patr\u00f3n de los dribladores, !a ver si les inspira!.<\/p>\n
